Saving an image directly from the timeline usually gets you a resized, re-cropped version made for that layout. This page lists the originals — the files as uploaded, at their full dimensions.
Posts with several photos are handled properly too: every image appears as its own download rather than just whichever one happened to be on top.

Any public post. Multi-image posts work the same as single ones.
The results will show a Photos section.
Every photo in the post gets its own button, with dimensions shown.
The timeline shows a display copy: scaled to fit the card, often cropped to a fixed aspect ratio, and compressed harder to load quickly on a feed. That is the right choice for browsing and the wrong file to keep.
The original is what the uploader actually sent — full width, full height, uncropped. On a photo from a recent phone that is often four to six times the pixel count of what you saw on screen.
| Format | Typical | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| JPEGPhotographs | Photographs | Original upload dimensions, no extra compression from us. |
| PNGScreenshots and graphics | Screenshots and graphics | Kept as PNG, with transparency preserved where present. |
A display copy has nowhere near enough pixels for anything larger than a postcard.
Detail you want to crop into has to be in the file to begin with.
Small text is the first casualty of downscaling. The original stays readable.
If it is worth keeping at all, keep the version that has the most information in it.
Photographs come back as JPEG. Screenshots, logos and anything with flat colour or transparency come back as PNG. Which one you get is determined by what was uploaded — we do not convert between them, because converting a PNG screenshot to JPEG would add compression artefacts around text for no benefit.
Profile pictures and header images are not part of a post, so a post link will not produce them. Neither will an image that only appears in a link preview card, since that file belongs to the linked website rather than the post.
Every tool on this site runs the same resolver — pick whichever matches what you are trying to save.
Paste a link to any public post. Nothing to install, no account, and the options you see are the files the post genuinely contains.
